Walter F. Moske, 92, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2021, under the loving care of his wife of 67 years, Carol Upton Moske.
Walter was born and raised in Manchester, the son of Walter and Ethel Stevenson Moske. Walter was a Navy veteran having proudly served his country during the Korean conflict and he remained active in causes important to those in the armed services. He worked at Stanadyne in Windsor for nearly three decades, rising to the role of foreman. Over the years, Walter and Carol enjoyed many road trips together driving to Cape Cod, Myrtle Beach, Florida, and the Mashantucket Pequot casino.
Walter was a devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was an avid fan of UCONN basketball, the NY Giants, and the NY Yankees. He enjoyed reading and discussing history and the relationship between present day and historical events, weight training in his basement gym, and caring for his cherished dog, Shane. He and Carol loved their Vernon home that they together maintained exquisitely for 65 years. At age 90, he regularly climbed a ladder to repair the roof! Walter had a special kinship with Mickey Mouse, with whom he shared a birthday, both the day and the year.
Along with his beloved wife, Carol, Walter leaves nieces Sharon M. Bradley and Charlene M. Weber, nephews Tom and Bill Makris, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Ronald Ironfield, bother-in-law and sister-in-law Curtis and Jill Upton, sister-in-law Jean Moske, dear friends Lynn and Lorraine, and several other nieces, nephews, and friends. Walter was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ed and sister-in-law and bother-in law Pat U. and A. Tom Makris.
The family has entrusted Walter’s final care to Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester, CT.
