Virginia “Ginger” (Volz) Walter 84, born on October 3, 1937 in Manchester, and passed away on October 2nd 2022 with her family by her side. Ginger was the daughter of Joseph and Lauretta Volz.
Ginger graduated from Manchester High school class of 1955. After graduation she worked for the Hartford Electric Light Company until her marriage to Robert James Walter in 1959. They lived in several places including Virginia, Illinois, and South Carolina until Jim’s retirement from the Navy in 1966. They settled in Manchester, CT to raise their family where Ginger worked for Stop & Shop for the next 18 years. Ginger and Jim retired and became snow birds, splitting their time between their winter home in Ruskin Fl. and their summer home at Bashan Lake in Moodus CT. When Jim passed, Ginger spent her winters at Hawaiian Isle RV park for the next 18 years and participated in many park activities including the “Hula Cats”. In 2019 she moved back to CT for good. Her favorite spot was her summer home in Moodus. It was her greatest pleasure spending her days swimming and being “queen” of the beach. She also enjoyed playing cards and making new friends at the East Haddam senior center. Ginger was an active member of the Women of the Moose lodge 1360 in Rockville CT. She earned the Star Recorder and then became a College of Regents. Ginger is survived by her children, Cheryl Greenier (Mike), Darcy Lareau (Donald), Mark Walter (Wannetta), Tony Walter (Michelle) and Robert Walter (Sharon) Her brother John (Jack) Volz and grandchildren, Katrina, Justin, Joshua, Tiffany, Zachary, Erica, Chloe and Evan and several great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 43 years Robert James Walter, daughter and son-in law Suzzie and Vittorio Tripoli and brother Joseph Volz. There are no calling hours and a vigil is set for a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Beacon Hospice or the Loyal Order of Moose.
