Stephen D. Pouliot of Colchester, CT (formerly Manchester) passed away on September 23, 2021 at the age of 65 at Hartford Hospital after many years of health issues. He was a lung transplant recipient as of 2010 at Brigham & Woman’s Hospital in Boston, MA and we are very grateful for the extra years of life the transplant provided to him.
He retired from Aetna Insurance Company in 2016 after 38 years of employment due to health reasons. He loved gardening especially trying to grow the perfect tomato. Stephen’s other interests included the weekly baking of loaves of bread and cookies, photography, antiques and collecting antique medicine bottles. He was a member of the Somers Antique Bottle Club and the Little Rhodie Bottle Club in RI. Earlier this year, some of his bottle collection was on exhibit at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk, CT. His website https://ctbottleman.com will remain active for a while due to the historical research available on it. He also loved our dogs, Charlotte and Mitzi, and recently wanted to adopt a third one from a shelter.
He is predeceased by his father Larry Pouliot, his mother Catherine Markstein Pouliot and his daughter Krisann Pouliot.
He is survived by his best friend and wife of 28 years, Debra (Smith) Pouliot, his stepson and his wife Ryan & Lauren Hess-Kinghorn of NH, his son Daniel S. Pouliot, his sister Denise, her husband Chris DeCiantis their daughters Rachel and Kristen all of Manchester, CT.
As per his wishes, there will be no calling hours or a memorial service. He wanted to pass away as he lived his life; quietly, peacefully and with no fuss. Please just remember him as he was; a quiet man that had many interests but not enough time or strength to do them all. He is greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to your local animal shelter or the CT Humane Society in Newington, CT. And as he wished, just be kind to one another. To leave a memory or message of condolence, please visit www.holmeswatkis.com
