Robert Bromley Maher, 91, of Vernon CT, beloved husband of 64 years to his wife Dolores (Dolly), passed away peacefully on June 6, 2021 at Manchester Manor in Manchester, CT.
He was born on January 19, 1930 in Woonsocket, RI to Leonard L. Maher Sr. and Marguerite McElearney Maher. He was a Sergeant in the Marine Corps during the Korean War and worked at Pratt and Whitney for 35 years. He loved his family, woodworking, traveling, gardening, going to the horse races especially Saratoga and smoking his cigars.
He was a member of the Irish American Home in Glastonbury, CT and the Ancient Order of Hibernians being very proud of his Irish heritage and having visited the birthplace of his grandparents many times.
He is survived by his wife Dolly, daughters Ann (Sean) Scalley and Karen (Rob) Sewell and son Christopher (Lou Ann) Maher, grandchildren, who called him grandpa tease, Amy (Shawn) Cameron, Noelle (Jacob) Werbicki, Crystal Maher, Abigail (Eric) Bouten, Sean Scalley, Jr and Kristen Scalley as well as great grandchildren Alina and Mikaela Werbicki, and Owen, Connor, Quinn, Emma and Easton Scalley.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brother Leonard L. Maher, Jr and his granddaughter Angie Maher.
Bob’s family would like to send their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff at Manchester Manor for their compassionate care in his final months.
The Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home in Manchester has care of arrangements. Burial will be private with full military honors at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Agawam Massachusetts.
