Raymond Arthur McGugan, 96, of Manchester, beloved husband for 67 years of the late Faith McGugan, passed away peacefully at home under the loving care of his son, Bill and niece Linda on Faith's and Ray's 71st wedding anniversary, June 3, 2021. Ray was born July 10, 1924, in Hartford, son of the late James and Elsie (Pringle) McGugan. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester. He served during World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ray graduated from the University of Hartford with a BS and MS in Business Education. He taught at Penney High School for 21 years. Ray was a member of the Manchester Senior Center and served on the first Advisory Committee. He was a member of the DAV, Manchester Historical Society, South United Methodist Church (79 years) and sang in the church choir for over 60 years. Ray enjoyed travelling, especially family vacations at Hampton Beach and cruises. Ray is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond A. McGugan Jr. and Margaret of Richmond, VA and a son William J. (Bill) McGugan of Manchester, and his grandson, William F. McGugan and his wife Josephine. He is also survived by his sister-in-law’s, Marilyn Moonan and Kay McClelland, and brother-in-law Walter Vogel, as well as many special nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his son, James William, his daughter, Kim Anne, his sisters Florence (Fannie) McGugan, Doris Schreiber, Helen Vogel and Alice Manning and brothers Arnold and Harold McGugan. Special thanks to care provided by the VNA as well as many special relatives and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 12th, at the South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main Street, Manchester followed by burial with military honors in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
