Philomena S. (Palazzi) Pagani, known affectionately by all as "Fani", passed away peacefully on July 26, 2023, in Margate, Florida. Born on April 27, 1930, in Manchester, Connecticut, Fani was a beacon of warmth and kindness who left an indelible impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
Fani was born and raised in Manchester, where she was a proud graduate of Manchester High School. It was during these formative years that she developed her love for cooking, a passion that would become the cornerstone of her life's work. Fani's talent for creating culinary delights led her to own and operate Fani's Kitchen, a popular main street diner known for its service, cleanliness, and welcoming atmosphere.
Cooking was more than just a profession for Fani; it was an expression of her love for her family and friends. She cherished time spent with her loved ones, and many of her most treasured moments were those spent around the dinner table, with her five children and their families, sharing delicious meals and engaging stories. Her kitchen was not just a place for cooking; it was a hub of laughter, learning, and unconditional love.
A sign hung in Fani’s kitchen “It’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice” and Fani lived this in her daily life. She taught those around her that the most important ingredient in any dish, and indeed, in life, is love.
Fani will be remembered for her generosity, extending beyond her family to the wider community. The success of her restaurant was not measured solely in financial terms but in the wealth of relationships she cultivated and the substantial difference she made to those in need. Her kindness was her currency, and she was infinitely wealthy.
Above all, Fani's heart belonged to her husband and her family. She and Ed were immensely proud of her five children and found joy in spending time with her 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment together.
Fani is survived by her five children and their families: Karen Ann and Peter Massaro of West Haven, Edward F and Charlene Pagani of Somers, Laura Jean and Adam Raimondi Jr. of Manchester, Donald and Cheryl Pagani of Coventry, and Bob and Barbara Pagani of Columbia. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ruby Palazzi, of Glastonbury and her lifelong friend Myrna Rivosa.
During her life, Fani experienced loss, and she was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Massaro, great-granddaughter, Avery Diana Hart, brothers, Joe and Peter Palazzi, and her sister-in-law Carolyn Ginolfi. She was also predeceased by the love of her life, Ed.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends and family who provided support during Fani's final days, and they wish to express special thanks to Vitas Hospice Care and Margate Rehabilitation Center for her end-of-life care.
