Michael Morano Obituary

Michael Peter Morano (34), of Windsor, CT, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021.  He was the beloved son of Peter and Sandra Morano (Mann) of Windsor, CT.  Michael was born on November 19, 1986, in Hartford, CT.  His grand entrance came during a blizzard and we knew then that his life would be full of wonderful and spontaneous adventures that kept us on our toes.

Michael grew up in Bolton, CT, and attended Bolton High School. Growing up he was a volunteer for the Bolton Fire Department and Windsor Fire and Ambulance Department. His love of helping people guided him to pursue his dream career of becoming a professional firefighter.  It did not matter what time of day it was, if he got an emergency call, he was usually the first one on the scene. His dedication to the field was inspiring.

His studies led him to work for the Ambulance Service of Manchester (ASM) as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Dispatcher. He loved working for ASM and made many lifelong friends during his career with the company.  During this time, Michael suffered a severe back injury that required multiple surgeries, which kept him from fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional firefighter.

At the time of Michael’s passing, he was employed by Butler Construction Company of Windsor, CT.  He was recently promoted to operate heavy machinery, which was his passion.  He was thrilled and proud to start this new chapter in his life.  He worked on many construction sites and he usually did so with a big smile on his face while zipping through the mud.  He also loved snow plowing and was always the first one to volunteer and work overtime at all hours of the night.

Michael’s other passion was building and operating large-scale remote-controlled helicopters.  He would assemble them from scratch and fly them in open parks.  He drew big crowds and loved talking to people about them. He also loved disassembling and assembling computers and could fix any computer.  Michael also loved animals and was planning on getting a new puppy.  He was a kind and gentle soul and was compassionate to anyone he met.  He would have given you the shirt off his back.  He will be deeply missed and we will cherish the memories we have of Michael.

Michael is survived by his mother, Sandra Morano (Mann); sister, Kelli Morano and her husband Frank Tozzoli; his aunt and many cousins.  In addition to his family, Michael leaves behind many close friends who love him very much.  He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Morano; grandparents Oscar H. Mann (“Pa”) & Margaret Mann (“Mimi”) and uncle, William H. Mann. He will be laid to eternal rest with two of his favorite people, his grandmother and grandfather.

The family will receive friends and relatives to celebrate Michael’s life on Thursday June 3, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home located at 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT 06040.  A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Cemetery located at 360 Broad Street, Manchester, CT 06040.
