Maria Walton Obituary

Maria L. Walton, a cherished matriarch and beacon of warmth in her community, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2024, at the age of 94. Born on January 24, 1930, in the quaint town of Aguada, Puerto Rico, Maria's journey led her to Manchester, Connecticut, where she would spend her final moments surrounded by the love of her family.

Maria, known affectionately to those around her simply as Maria, was the beloved daughter of the late Anastasio and Monzi Luciano. Her vibrant spirit and loving nature were a testament to the rich heritage and values instilled in her from a young age. Throughout her life, Maria's infectious laughter and boundless kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

A dedicated mother, Maria is survived by her devoted daughter, Gladys Morse, and her caring son, William Alfonso. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren, Joel Alfonso, Marita Alfonso, Sarah Miles, Josh Miles, Jennifer LaPlante, and Diana Morse. Maria was also a proud great-grandmother to twelve great-grandchildren and treasured great-great-grandmother to three great-great-grandchildren. Her unwavering love and guidance have left an indelible mark on each generation.

Maria's work as a sewing machine operator was characterized by the same precision and attention to detail she applied to every aspect of her life. Her colleagues remember her as a pillar of reliability and camaraderie, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. Her involvement in various associations reflected her commitment to community and her passion for connecting with others.

A woman of diverse interests, Maria found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid bowler, her competitive spirit and cheerful banter making her a favorite among her teammates. She also had a passion for dance. Maria's zest for life shone brightly during her visits to the casino, where she reveled in the excitement and camaraderie of the games. A connoisseur of excellent foods, she delighted in savoring the flavors of the world, an appreciation she passed down to her family.

Above all, Maria's unwavering love for her children was the cornerstone of her existence. Her nurturing presence provided a foundation of support and affection that her family will forever cherish. Maria's sense of humor was a source of constant amusement and comfort, ensuring that laughter was never in short supply in her household.

Described by those who knew her as loving, kind, and funny, Maria's impact on the world was as profound as it was heartwarming. She approached life with a generous heart and an open mind, always ready to see the good in people and situations. Her empathy and compassion knew no bounds, making her a friend to many and an enemy to none.

As we bid farewell to Maria L. Walton, we celebrate a life rich in love and laughter, a life lived with purpose and joy. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have felt the warmth of her presence.
