Maria (Natividade Vale da Serra) Correia, age 93, of Manchester, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family at Saint Francis Hospital on Monday, October 9, 2023. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years Ricardo Correia of Manchester and her grandson Christopher Mira of Manchester.
Maria was born in Reguengo do Fetal, Portugal and came to the United States in 1961 with her three young daughters to join Ricardo where they made a life for their family first in Hartford and then their final home in Manchester for 55 years. Maria was first employed at Connecticut Mutual before working at Manchester Memorial Hospital where she retired after 25+ years of service. She loved to garden and spend time with her ever-growing family.
Maria is survived by a sister Irene Oyola of Hartford and a brother Alfred Vale da Serra of Portugal and her four daughters and one son and their families; Julia Mira and her husband Antonio of Manchester and their son Anthony Mira and his wife Samantha; Isabel Fuller and her husband John of Vero Beach, FL and their children Natalie McLaughlin and her husband John and Justin Fuller; Fernanda Hill and her husband Bill of South Windsor and their children Ashley Hill and Michael Hill; Linda Jankowski and her husband Joseph of Lebanon and their children Erik Willett and his wife Katherine, Victoria Marston and her husband Prince-Michael and Ryan Jankowski; and Rick Correia and his wife Linda of Vernon and their children Michelle Morey and her husband Jacob and Mackenzie Correia. Maria also loved spending time with her seven great grandchildren; J.T., Hudson and Lucia McLaughlin, Juliette and Owen Mira, Adam and Cameron Willett.
The Correia family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in South Windsor and Touchpoints Rehab at Manchester and Saint Francis Hospital for their kindness, loving care, and friendship given to Maria.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery, Oakland St. Manchester.
