Margaret (Bassett) Maldonado, 92, of Willimantic passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham, on Tuesday, Sept 27th. She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Helen and Harold Bassett on Sept 20th, 1930. She retired from the University of UCONN. After retirement she enjoyed going up to York, Maine in the summer. She liked her garden and watching the birds, and loved her cat. She belonged to the Chaplin Congregational church and sang in the choir. When she was younger she belonged to the “Sunset Rahbekah Lodge #39.”
She leaves her sister, Gloria Bassett of Willimantic. Her three girls, Hellen Starkweather of Bolton, Carol Roberge (George) of Westfield, Mass and Kathy Cyr of Coventry, CT. A son, James Maldonado of Rhode Island. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Bassett (who passed one week before her) and her longtime friend Barry Oguschewitz.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Living Center for Margarets care. A Graveside service for friends and family will be held at East Cemetery on October 5th, at 11am. Donations maybe be made to Chaplin Congregational Church.
