Margaret (Donnelly) “Peggy” Bell, 88, of Manchester, CT, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Margaret was born December 27, 1932 in Bristol, Connecticut daughter of the late Francis and Katherine Mary (Hardiman) Donnelly and sister of the late Jean Perry and Paul Donnelly. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1951 and began working at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in an administrative capacity as an addressograph operator. It was at Pratt and Whitney that she met James A. Bell and the two were married on December 12, 1958. They celebrated 56 years together, residing in Manchester, before he died in April 2015. In her younger years, Margaret enjoyed duckpin bowling in women’s leagues and singing in choral groups. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved attending her grandchildren’s schools’ concerts and performances. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Bell, her daughter, Colleen MacElhiney and husband Scot of Glastonbury, three grandchildren, Trevor Bell of Florida and Casey and Kelley MacElhiney of Glastonbury, her brother-in-law Jack R. Bell of Vermont, several nieces and nephews, and her dear friend, Marie Cyr of Bristol. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Right at Home, especially Joyce, and nurses Heather and Donna of Vernon Hospice. Margaret loved animals and cared for several pets during her life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the CT Humane Society. A Graveside Service will be held at East Cemetery, Manchester at 12 noon on Saturday, January 9, 2021.
