Marcia (Augur) Walker

Marcia (Augur) Walker, 96, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed peacefully in her sleep on Saturday July 29th at her home in Manchester, CT.

She was born November 11th, 1926 in West Haven, CT to Robert and Grace Augur.  She attended West Haven High School class of 1944, and furthered her education in Jr. College and the University of Pennsylvania. She married Kendall L. Walker on June 28, 1947 who predeceased her in 2007 after 59 years of marriage. She worked at the Cheney Mills in Manchester prior to having children.  Once her children were of school-age, Marcia worked part-time in the Martin School cafeteria as a “lunch lady”. She was dearly loved by the children at the school.

Marcia was an amazing homemaker and mother. She had a quick wit and great sense of humor. She enjoyed gardening and her favorite place to vacation or enjoy a weekend trip was at her cottage built by her grandfather in Lyme, CT.

Marcia is survived by son Curtis Walker and daughter-in law Dawn Walker of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her daughter Lynda Walker Waggoner and son-in law Joseph Walker Waggoner of Manchester, CT. She is further survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Waterhouse Johnson, Ashley Waggoner Cegelka, Justin Walker Waggoner, Robert Walker, and Kyle Walker, as well as great-grandchildren Abigail Johnson, Maxwell Johnson, Evelyn Cegelka, and Madelyn Cegelka, and other family members, friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.  Besides her parents, Marcia was predeceased by her daughter Karen Waterhouse in 1987.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate and honor her memory Friday, August 4, 2023 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT.
