Malcolm Lowd Obituary

Malcolm “Mal” Bruce Lowd, 74, passed away January 30, 2021 after a short illness. A lifelong resident of Manchester, CT and beloved husband of Bridget Blakemore Lowd for 52 years Malcolm was the much adored and loved father of Christina “Christy” Lowd Gademsky and Jeffrey A. Lowd (Samantha Lowd).

A graduate of Manchester High class of 1964 and Manchester Community College. Mal was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving in the United States Army in the 25th Infantry Division from 1966-1968.

Malcolm was employed for many years at both Aetna and then Cigna as a Systems Analyst and also worked at Oxford Package Store for over 20 years. During his retirement, he took delight spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren, Marcella Lowd Jensen (Nate Jensen), Carson Gademsky, Gerrit Gademsky, Abigael Lowd, Macklin Lowd, and Sean Jeffrey Lowd.

A proud NASCAR and country fan since the 1970’s, he enjoyed attending many races in New Hampshire with his daughter, Christy, and going on day trips to Vermont. He also spent time spoiling and feeding his granddogs whom he lovingly called, “My puppy dogs”, Vicky, and Diggy. He enjoyed rooting and cheering for UCONN Women’s Basketball and attending many Irish music concerts during the past 10 years with his wife and daughter.

Anyone who knew Mal, loved him for his humor, kindness and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all that loved and knew him.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the wonderful staff and doctors at St. Francis Hospital for their tireless efforts.

Malcolm was predeceased by his father, Ernest Lowd and mother, Marion Lowd.  He was also predeceased by his brother Wayne Lowd, as well as his son-in-law, Bernhardt G. Gademsky III.
