Kenneth A. Nechitilo, 76, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at his home in Naples, FL. Ken was born in Manchester, CT on August 30, 1947, son of the late John Nechitilo, Sr. and Edith (Baldwin) Nechitilo. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University, served in the U.S. Army, earned a master’s degree in economics at the University of Massachusetts and an MBA at the University of Hartford, and went on to earn his nursing degree at Case Western Reserve University and work for hospitals and nursing homes in Ohio, Florida, and Virginia. Ken loved to spend time with family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was an avid reader and public radio listener who could often be found doing one or the other when he wasn’t busy having pillow fights, doing puzzles, or reading to his grandson. He was a lifelong runner and loved swimming, continuing to swim his laps and chat with his neighbors poolside until his final days. He found great satisfaction in serving others through his career as a nurse and through his many years of faithful volunteering with food pantries in Florida and Virginia. Mr. Nechitilo is survived by his loving family, wife Vera Nechitilo, daughters Meredith Nechitilo and Seven Sunrise, stepdaughter Olga Kilgore and her husband Ryan, stepson Sergiy Oliynyk, and four grandchildren, Magdalene and Serena (“Jordyn”) Botirius and Landon and Aria Kilgore.
