Kaylyn Ashley Jones, 18, of Manchester, CT, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2020. She was born on August 23, 2001 in Manchester to her parents, Kenneth Jones and the late Merlyn Jones. She was sunshine personified, in her personality and actions. Kaylyn always displayed warmth, kindness, and an ever-bright smile that made everyone feel safe and welcome. She never lost her positivity even during the darkest days. Kaylyn was loved by so many. She was class president of Manchester High School class of 2019. She was an activist that believed in equal rights for everyone who supported BLM and LGBTQ movements. She was also a passionate artist, whose art has touched and inspired many. She had a way to warm the soul and continues to do so even in her passing.
She is preceded in death by her mother Merlyn Rubio Jones. Besides her father, she is survived by her brothers, Markin Jones and his children Joel and Leilani, Christopher Jones and his children Caliyal and Nevaeh, her grandparents, Sevilla Rubio and her husband Nasario, Benjamin Knox and his wife Mary, her uncle Edgar Rubio and his children Mairebell, Jonathan, Jesnarh, John, and Justin, uncle John Milavsky, his wife Marie (Jones) and their children Cody and Kaylie, uncle Tony Lee, his wife Leola and their son Nicholas, uncle Shedric Whipple, his wife Marian and their children, Jocelyn, Victoria, Joshua, Shedric Jr., uncle Leon Jones, his wife Maria and their daughter Emma, aunt Alfreada Knox, Silva Delamoore and husband Richard, and her godparents Ishmael and Nilda Borolin.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Manchester Funeral Home, 142 E. Center Street, Manchester, CT, 06040. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Church of the Assumption, 27 South Adams Street, Manchester, CT 06040. A burial will follow at St. James Cemetery. Please understand that due to Covid-19 restrictions, the church has a limit of 100 people. If you wish to attend the service, we encourage people to attend via the livestream.
