Joseph Sokola, Sr

Joseph Sokola, Sr, 80, of Hebron, died peacefully Sunday, August 29, 2021 at home with his children by his side. He was loving husband of the late Judith (Knox) Sokola.  Joseph was born July 20, 1941, in Pottsville, PA beloved son of the late Michael and Mary (Melusky) Sokola. Joe grew up in East Hartford, CT, and was in the graduating class of 1959 East Hartford High School. Joe and his family moved to Hebron, CT in 1975. He was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Family in Hebron and retired from Modern Mechanical.  He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Maria Sokola of West Hartford, James and Tammy Sokola of Hebron, Michael and Deanna Sokola of Manchester; his daughter and son-in-law, Leslie and James Steffman of Portland; His sister Kathryn Gearl and her husband Michael of East Windsor, NJ.   Ten grandchildren, Gerald (Eileen), Joseph, Amy, Brian (Victoria), Matthew, Justin, Samantha, Michael, Dean and Aurora; Five Great grandchildren Madison, Lila, Reese, Lillia and Jamie. Several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his father Michael Sokola, mother Mary Sokola, a brother Michael J. Sokola, and a sister, Marianne Hyland.  Funeral services will be held graveside, Friday, September 3, 2021 at 1:00pm at the Holy Cross Cemetery, 1318 Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT 06033.  There are no calling hours. In lieu flowers or purchases in Joe's name, please consider a donation to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.  www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html
