IN MEMORIAM In Loving Memory of Jorgia Frances Whittaker, born on April 8, 1997, peacefully passed away on October 18, 2023, at her residence in Meriden, CT, at the age of 26. Jorgia was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who brought joy and laughter to all who knew her. She was loved by everyone who met her and was always first to help people.
Jorgia was born in Manchester, CT, attended pre-school at Hans Christian Anderson School in Bolton, and the Montessori school in Hartford until the end of 5th grade. She then attended Manchester public schools, where she met many of her long-time friends.
She excelled in sports, including soccer and swimming, winning many honors as a member of the Manchester Swim Club, as well as lettering all 4 years as a member of the Manchester High School swimming and diving teams as well as graduating with college credits in 2015.
After graduation Jorgia attended Manchester Community College. Upon leaving, she held a variety of jobs assisting the community. But her most recent position, working with the elderly and disabled, was the one that fulfilled her the most. When asked about it, she would say, “I love my job so much”.
Jorgia had a zest for life and cherished the simple pleasures it offered. She loved to read, draw, knit, and crochet, (the elderly residents where she worked would make fun of her about it, but loved her even more for teaching them).
She also loved animals, her pets included dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles, and snakes but her best friend was Grant, her golden retriever before his passing.
Jorgia is survived by her mother, Sherie Parago of Bartow, FL., her father Neil Whittaker of New Hartford, CT, her brother, Marcus Parago and his daughters, Leah Parago and Makenzie Parago of Broad Brook and Manchester, CT, her paternal grandparents Elizabeth & Arthur Whittaker of Hampshire, England, her God Parents, Kerrie & Larry Hokinson of Manchester, CT and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family and across the globe, as well as her best friend Charlotte Harvey of Manchester, CT.
Jorgia was pre-deceased by her paternal grandfather, Clifton Parago, Sr. and Helen McGraw and her uncle Keith Parago of Scranton, PA. and her great grandparents William and Mary Benson, of Painswick, England.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 26, 2023, between 4pm and 7pm, at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester, CT.
A Funeral Service to commemorate Jorgia’s inspiring life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 11:00 am, at South United Methodist Church, 1226 Main St. Manchester, CT.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Jorgia’s memory to an animal charity or a charity of your choosing.
Jorgia will forever be missed, her memory treasured, and her unyielding spirit fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
