John R. Warren

John W. Warren, 67, of Manchester, CT, passed away March 2, 2021 at Salmon Brook Rehabilitation and Nursing in Glastonbury, CT. He was surrounded by the love and prayers of his many close friends. 

John was born June 8, 1953 in Manchester, CT. He went to public school in the town and graduated from Central Connecticut State University. 

John was very technical and trained to be a Data Base Administrator. He was an accomplished DBA and worked at many prominent companies, including: The Hartford, Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and United Health Care. He was a key contributor in developing database solutions for complex insurance systems projects. John also enjoyed teaching database concepts to other IT professionals and working with peers on innovative practices and procedures. 

John loved attending and watching sports events. He was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan and attended games whenever the team traveled to New York and Boston. He made a yearly summer pilgrimage to Cooperstown, NY to tour the Baseball Hall of Fame and view the plaques of recent inductees. John also loved the Dallas Cowboys and made a memorable trip to Dallas to attend a game on December 20, 2008. He also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and attending autograph signing events. 

John’s greatest love was his beloved dog Bennie who was a constant companion. John is predeceased by his beloved mother, Jean (Finnegan) Warren (2013), and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Finnegan Sr. 

Friends are invited to a graveside service on Tuesday, March 9, 10:30 a.m. at East Cemetery in Manchester, CT.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations or pet supplies may be made to the CT Humane Society  or Manchester Animal Control.
