Jeffrey Libby died peacefully at home on Thursday, August 17th, surrounded by family, after a short struggle with cancer. Jeff was born in Manchester on July 20th, 1961. He graduated from Manchester High School in 1979, graduated from Manchester Community College and attended Central Connecticut University. Jeff’s specialty was math and puzzle solving. He sponsored a scholarship for top math students at Manchester Community College.
While in college, Jeff worked as a bartender in Manchester and then opened his own bar, Silk City Café on Hartford Road. Most recently, he owned and operated Freedom Innovations Interlock Devices. Jeff was a member of the Manchester Elks Club. Jeff was an excellent skier, an avid snowmobiler, motorcyclist, and collector of unusual vehicles.
Jeff was predeceased by his father, William Libby. He is survived by his children, Maxwell and Isla Libby; his mother Judith (Brace) Libby; sister Leslie Furlong and brother, Chris Libby all of Manchester. He leaves nephews James Furlong and Michael Libby and nieces Emma Libby and Elizabeth Furlong Zerio, her husband Tony and their children, Johnathan and Emily Zerio. Jeff leaves his aunt and uncle, Marie and Richard Libby, and several cousins in Virginia.
Jeff (called Flip by some) leaves many friends who have been most supportive, especially in the last few days. Special thanks to Jake and Ed, who this past week, took Jeff on an outing to his favorite hangout. The family thanks all who helped care for Jeff.
Friends may call at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home on 400 Main Street in Manchester from 4pm till 8pm on Wednesday, August 23. Funeral Services will be at Holmes Watkins on Thursday, August 24 at 11am, followed by burial in East Cemetery.
