It is with sorrow and spiritual joy that we share, Gail A. Porter, 83, of Vernon, CT was called home to the Lord on March 7th, 2022. Born on November 12, 1938, in Manchester, CT to Einar H. Anderson & Grace (Gallagher) Anderson of Manchester, CT, where she attended Grade School and graduated High School.  Gail met her future husband Douglas S Porter Jr. on a Misquamicut beach vacation in Westerly, RI, Doug’s hometown, they married on January 18th, 1958, at Emanual Lutheran Church, Manchester, CT.

Gail was a homemaker who raised her four children in loving homes in South Windsor and East Hartford and welcomed her grandchildren in a Manchester home. A lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, she was active in many church groups including her beloved Ruth Circle. A wonderful cook and baker she always exclaimed, “save room for dessert” at every family meal. The family enjoyed annual camping trips with other church families and relatives. Later in life Gail would get her cosmetology license and work as a hairdresser. She donated many hours of service cutting hair for shut-ins and the elderly. Gail loved when family or friends would stop over her house to get a haircut from ‘Auntie Gail’.

Gail & Doug enjoyed a happy retirement in Vernon, CT making many friends in the Quail Hollow Community, as well as their winter snowbird trips to The Villages & Summerfield FL. She was a keen card player and loved playing Bridge, Canasta & Cribbage with family and friends.
