Elizabeth (Betsy) Margaret (Poutre) Vogel of New Bedford, MA passed away on August 1, 2021. Betsy was born in Hartford, CT on May 17, 1953, and was originally from Manchester, CT.
Betsy was a loving daughter to her mother, Mary B. Poutre of Manchester. She was predeceased by her father, Raymond T. Poutre, sister in law Linda Poutre and uncle Lawrence Tattenbaum. She loved her family and is survived by her siblings: Edward Poutre of Bradenton, FLA, Anne Williamson and her husband Peter, of Vernon, Susan Yungk and her husband David of Manchester, Nancy Bigler and her husband William of West Hartford, and John Poutre and his wife Stacey of Manchester. She is also survived by an aunt, Patricia Tattenbaum of Farmington, whom she shared a close, special relationship with. She is also leaves 10 nieces and nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews.
Prior to Betsy’s retirement, she was employed by the Commonwealth Of Massachusetts by the Department of Developmental Services as a Service Coordinator. She was loved by her clients and co-workers and was very gifted working with people with disabilities.
Since an early age Betsy has been an adventurous soul. One of her early loves included horses and skiing. As she left the home nest, she worked in Vermont in the winter months to continue her love of skiing, and Newport, RI in the summer months to be near the Ocean which was her true happy place. While in Newport Betsy discovered the love of sailing. Before she knew it she was a crew member sailing a boat from Newport to Bermuda. She also loved her time spent in Little Compton, RI. She shared a love of cooking with her mom and at times catered various events.
