Doris M. McKinney

Doris (Dunlop) McKinney, age 94, daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Cordner) Dunlop, died peacefully January 18, 2021.  

In 1974, together, with her husband, Doris opened a kennel in Manchester and with it, her love for dogs increased steadily.  Pugs became her breed of choice.  The fifth and final one, a black pug, Aria, brought pure joy. The pug also having serious eye problems as did Doris. In earlier years, membership in G. Clef Club and Hammond Organ Club , both in Manchester, brought countless happy memories through the years. In 2013 she returned to United Methodist Church of Bolton, the church of her youth where her parents bought a small farm in 1936.  The church became a guide for life.  In 2014 she became a lay servant for the church, the oldest at age 88.  Later, she was called upon to be a trustee.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William G. McKinney in 1998 and son, William R. McKinney in 2000.  Doris is survived by her loving daughter, Maryanna Versary Stephens, born on her parents fifth wedding anniversary.  She is also survived by a very special brother, Samuel Dunlop; and three devoted nieces,  Kathryn Sherrell and Laurie Dunlop of Manchester, Mary Jane Dunlop, Pittsfield MA; and loyal steadfast friend Jeanine Barber.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Macular Degeneration Research,  22512 Gateway Center, Clarksburg MD 20871  or  Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield CT 06002.
