David Mainville Obituary

David R. Mainville (Davey, Super Dave, Moeski, call me Ray) of Bolton, CT died peacefully at home on September 7, 2022.  He was surrounded by two of his brothers, Tim and Tom Mainville, his life partner, Lisa Trombly, and an amazing visiting nurse, Dan Walker.

Born on January 28, 1953, he was the son of Martha and Edward Mainville. Growing up in Manchester, he was one of 9 brothers! After graduating from Manchester High School in 1971, he joined the US Air Force and served in Spain, Turkey, Korea and various other bases around the world. He was a Staff Sergeant and flight line crew chief proudly serving his country for over 9 years. During his term of duty, he met his lifelong friend, Ron Bennett and his wife Diane of Minford, Ohio.

After the service, he had a variety of jobs, his last as an electrician with his brother Tim and nephew Kevin whom he loved working with. He was creative in many ways – making copper weathervanes and other copper masterpieces, cupolas, cement sculptures, wrote amazing stories and audio taped many more – friends especially recall the SITUATION ROOM.  He had a quick sense of humor, making everyone around him laugh. Fiercely loyal, honest, sensitive, generous, and kind, became an avid bird watcher and loved UCONN Women’s basketball—he was one of the good guys.

He is survived by his partner of 32 years, Lisa Trombly, his brothers – Tim and wife Dierdre of South Windsor, Bob of East Hartford, Tom and wife Laureen of Bolton, John and wife Susan of Middletown, MD, Mark of St Augustine, FL and Greg and wife Sharon of Manchester, many nephews and nieces, grand nieces and nephews and his precious kitties, Peanut and Perley. He will be missed by many, many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Eddie and Wayne.

An informal gathering will be held at Second Congregational Church at 385 North Main St. in Manchester CT on Saturday, October 15th at 11AM.  Everyone will be asked to participate by either telling a story about Dave or we will read your written memories – please send to lisat@sentryrealestate.com.  A luncheon will be provided in the Fellowship Hall of the church.  Donations can be made in his name to the food pantry at Second Congregational Church.
