Darrin Paul Roberts, 62, of Manchester, beloved husband of Judith (Fullerton) Roberts, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Thursday, June 1, 2023. He was born on May 5, 1961, in Barre, Vermont, loving son of the late Paul and Seymone (Aubie) Roberts.
For much of his life, Darrin resided in Barre, VT, Bristol, and Manchester, CT. He was a proud veteran, having served his country in the US Army in 1980. Darrin was employed in the construction industry and proprietor of Roberts Drywall, in Bristol, CT.
Darrin's passions were vast and varied. He was a lifelong New York Yankee fan, and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, and horseshoes at camp. Darrin's competitive nature was also showcased in his dedication to driving his racecar, #46, and his love for chess, often playing with his good friend Joe Callahan. He was also a regular at Friday night poker games with his friends in Farmington, CT.
A dedicated family man, Darrin is survived by his loving daughter Laura Roberts and her partner Robert Meyers of Manchester; two devoted sisters, Jo-Ann Martin and husband Rick, and Sharon Peterson and husband Mark; and his brother and best friend Steven Roberts and wife Shelia, all of Bristol. Darrin also leaves behind his two Aunts, Gloria Aubie of Bristol and Lucille Heinzelman and her husband Jim of Florida; and his sister-in-law Claudia Fullerton of Manchester.
Darrin was a doting grandfather to his eight grandchildren, Naomi, Nicole, Rebecca, Brianna, Sahara, Jazmine, Shayne, and Aaron. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Brice and Haleigh. Darrin's love for his family extended to his nine nephews, David, Scott, Dan, Kevin, Greg, Derrick, Jason, Aaron, and Brandon, and his five nieces, Allie, Liz, Renee, Heather, and Heidi.
In addition to his parents, Darrin was predeceased by his brother, Brian Roberts, and his brother-in-law, Larry Fullerton.
His family would like to extend a thank you to the nurses and staff of Visiting Nurses and Health Services, and to the doctors and nurses at the Hartford and Manchester Memorial Hospitals for their kind and compassionate care over the past year. And to further extend their gratefulness to Darrin’s brother Steve, his stepson Robert McCarty, his son-in-law David Clauss, and his nephew Aaron Fullerton for their constant assistance and loving care while Darrin was homebound for the past three years.
We invite all friends and relatives to keep Darrin in their hearts, but services will be privately held at the family's convenience, with a private burial taking place later in Hillstown Road Veterans Cemetery in Manchester.
