Carol A. (Nellis) Preston

Carol A. (Nellis) Preston, age 84, of Manchester passed away May 7, 2023 at home surrounded by family. Born in Canajoharie, NY in 1939, she graduated from Canajoharie High School and Rochester Business School. In Rochester she met Frank Preston, her devoted husband of 55 Years. 

She is predeceased by her husband Frank; parents Arnold and Alberta (Prall) Nellis of Palatine Bridge, NY; and sisters Nancy Showerman and Elizabeth Stanley.

For over 20 years Carol was an Executive Secretary at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance in Hartford. In the 1970s she was a caregiver for disabled children. After retirement, she worked for the Town of Manchester Park and Rec.  

She was active in the First Church of Christ Scientist in Manchester and held several positions including Secretary. She loved playing the piano and going to piano concerts, gardening, history, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister Catherine Montilla of Riverdale, NY; her children Doug Preston and Darlene Pearson of Vermont, and Beth and Paul Petraitis of Hebron; grandchildren Jeremie and Corrine Preston of Vermont, Isaiah Preston and Caroline Masessa of Vermont, and Allison Petraitis of Hebron; great grandchildren Cameron, Elaina, Jacob and Elijah Preston; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home in Manchester on Sunday 5/14 from 10-12. Burial will be at the Hillstown Cemetery on Tuesday 5/16 at 10 am where she will be laid to rest next to Frank.
