Bruce Sandy Obituary

 

Bruce Sandy, 71, of Manchester, CT, beloved husband of Bettylou Sandy since 2001, passed peacefully on January 6th, 2023 at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. He was born on November 8th, 1951 in Worcester MA, to Gilbert Sandy and Mary (Coulter) Sandy. Bruce attended Oxford High-school in Massachusetts. He attended Amherst College BA, along with Gordon Conwell and Andover Newton for seminary eduction where he got his Masters of Divinity. 

He was employed by 4 churches in the Boston area and 5 churches in Connecticut. He provided guidance for 47 years in the ministry. He was also a member of TABCON and ABCON.  He was on the board of Camp and Conference, Ministry Counsel for the State of CT, as well holding a board seat at Pierce Baptist Home. Bruce went on 8 mission trips to spread the Good Word, to the Dominican Republic, he also helped to provide the meal ministry in Willimantic and was pastor to the homeless there. His interests were trains, fossils, old gravestones, his Scottish heritage and Old Orchard Beach, Maine. He is survived by his sister Cathyann Bearthiaume and three nephews, David and John Bearthiaume, Aaron Hamscon and two nieces Marina Peck and Carrie Bosch. He is predeceased by his brother Gilbert Sandy. Services will be held at Talcotville Congregational Church on Saturday, January 21st at 1pm. Located at 10 Elm Hill Road, Vernon CT 06066.
