Betty Jean MacNeil of Port Orange, FL. The wife of late Henry Sawyer, and present wife of John MacNeil Sr. died, July 29th, 2021, at Halifax Health in Daytona, FL.
Born March 10, 1937, in Claremont N.H the daughter of the late Alfred and Glendora (Bellrose) Amell. She lived in Claremont N.H many years, Willimantic, and Manchester C.T, and Port Orange FL.
Betty Jean was very active in many organizations. Betty Jean was active in the Cub Scouts, former member of the Ladies of St. James. She was an active member of St. James Church through which she was a part of many spiritual groups. She was a Eucharistic minister in Manchester and at Our Lady of Hope in Florida. She and her former husband Henry Sawyer ran a laundromat for many years. She was a realtor for 23 years. She won many awards. President of the Women’s Council of Realtors as well as a volunteer at Manchester Memorial Hospital and Penny savers.
She had many hobbies like knitting, crocheting, and all manner of crafting. She has made a number of quilts and was accomplished with needle and thread. She enjoyed camping at Indianfield Campground in Salem, CT for many years.
She is survived by her husband John MacNeil as well her brother Roger Amell and wife Laura, and three nieces. She is survived by a son Robert Todd Sawyer. She has a granddaughter, Rachel Sawyer. She is leaving many friends. She was predeceased by a son Ricky Alan Sawyer. She was predeceased by a grandson, Glenn Sawyer. She will be buried at St. James Cemetery in Manchester, CT.
