Benita Montalvo Obituary

Benita Viden Montalvo, age 60, died peacefully at her Manchester home on Sunday, March 7, 2021, after a long battle with COPD. Benita was born on March 21, 1960 in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Bienvenido Montalvo and Loretta A. Pagani-Montalvo. She grew up in Hartford and Manchester but was a life-long resident of Manchester.

Benita was a stay-at-home mom for many years until she found her calling at MARC, Inc. working with developmentally and intellectually disabled individuals. She had many passions and did many things in life. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, going to tag sales, and enjoyed helping others. She always had her door and heart open to anyone in need, with a plate of food or a cup of coffee ready. Benita was a great listener and was always willing to give advice (even if you didn’t want to hear it). She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and community volunteer for the Special Olympics. She touched so many lives with her generosity and passion for life, love, and others.

In addition to both of her parents, Benita is predeceased by her sister, Carmela “Cammy” Hinojosa; brother, Benny Montalvo, and sister Juanita Montalvo-Garcia.

She is survived by her two sons, Edwin Perez II, of Manchester, CT and Kyle Bryon Howe of Manchester, CT, as well as Logan Betancourt, whom she raised since he was 3 years old; 5 grandchildren: Anthony Gonzalez, Edwin Isaiah Perez, Aiden Perez, Alana Perez, and Landon Perez. Benita is also survived by her 2 dogs, Snooki and Vinny. She also leaves her siblings: Benny “Buddy” Montalvo and his wife Rhonda Montalvo of Coventry, VT; Ronda Thebodeau and her husband Clifford Thebodeau of Linden, New Jersey; Antonia Colon of Manchester, CT; and Eneida Bailey of East Berlin, CT; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
