William K. "Bill" Carson, 80, of Manchester, beloved husband of 56 years to Beverly (Koropatkin) Carson died on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at home. Bill was born on April 22, 1937 in Manchester son of the late Charles and Joanne Carson. He was raised in Manchester, attended local schools and was a graduate of Howell Cheney Technical High School. Bill enlisted in the US. Navy in 1954 and served his country during the Korean War until 1958. He proudly served aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS. Leyte working with the arresting gear & catapults during launchings and landings. Upon his discharge, he attended Drexel Institute in Philadelphia and later the University of Hartford. He was owner and President of Carson Insurance Agency in Manchester for many years. Bill was an avid race car enthusiast & builder and he was a good friend of Bill W. for over 40 years. Bill was the founder of the Lung Cancer Support Group at the John DeQuattro Cancer Center at Manchester Memorial Hospital. In addition to his wife he is survived by his adopted son Robert DeMaine and his wife Elizabeth and their children; Paul and Annie all of South Pasadena, CA, his three sisters and two brothers-in-law; Sandra and David Orcutt of Manchester, Rita and Ben Patten of Cobalt, and Charlene Carson-Hyde of East Windsor, his brother-in-law John Koropatkin of Waterbury, numerous nieces, nephews and their families and his good friends; John McParland, Ray Fortin, Norman LaRose and Winfield Jordan. In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased by his two brothers; Robert and Charles Carson. Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 4-7 pm at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10 am at St. James Church, 896 Main St. Manchester. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, East Hartford at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
