Vivian Van Camfort

October 26, 1912 — January 28, 2015

Vivian "Zoe" (Smith) Van Camfort, 102, of Tolland, widow of William W. Brown and Joseph Van Camfort, passed away peacefully at Woodlake at Tolland Nursing Home on Wednesday, January 28, 2015, with her daughter by her side.
She was born in Houston, MO on October 26, 1912, daughter of Walter F. and Cora B. (Sherrill) Smith. She was raised in MO and had resided in DC and Maryland for many years before retiring and moving to FL with her second husband, Joe. Following his passing, she moved to CT in 2005. While in MO, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. After moving to DC, she attended college and was employed by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture. Zoe was a wonderful seamstress, cook and decorator but will be most remembered for the unconditional love she gave to her entire family.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia G. MacDougall and her partner Dennis P. McConville of Manchester; her step-daughter, Louise Pelagatti of Prince Frederick, MD; a grandson, Kevin M. Wood and his wife Jennifer of Tolland; two step-grandchildren, Thomas Pelagatti and his wife Colleen of Prince Frederick, MD and Terri Renwick and her husband Thomas of Simsbury; great-grandchildren Amanda Marie, Kaitlyn Mae and Mackenzie Zoe Wood; and step-great-grandchildren Taylor and Allison Renwick. She was predeceased by her sisters, Oneta Burke, Oleta Piber and Gaynel Skortman, her brothers, Sherrill, Voyne, Norman and Walter Smith, and her grandson, Eric Wood.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, February 5 from 5:00-6:30 PM with by a memorial service at 6:30 PM at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center Street, Manchester. Burial will be private in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.
