Violet (Finn) Toomey, 92 of Vernon formerly of Bolton, beloved wife of John B. Toomey and widow of the late Ralph F. Decker, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at home with her family at her side. Violet was born in Hudson, NY December 13, 1924 daughter of the late Frank A. and Della C. (Hamm) Finn. During WWII she worked as a telephone operator in Hudson, NY and later as the tax collector for Philmont, NY after the passing of her first husband, Ralph in 1961. Violet and John were married in 1963 and resided in Bolton until 2007, when they moved to Vernon. From 1969 to 1982, Violet was the cafeteria manager at Bolton Center School and G.H. Robertson School, Coventry. She was a longtime member of Bolton Congregational Church. In addition to her husband, Violet is survived by her loving family, son, Ralph Daniel Decker and his wife, Debby of Gadsden, AL, daughter, Darlene L. Boyd of Coventry, son, John B. Toomey and his spouse, James Dwire of Bolton, five grandchildren, Ralph Daniel Decker Jr., Kristy Lynn Decker, Brian James Decker, Kevin Forrest Boyd, Cody Lynn Boyd, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth Wallace of Washington State, Doris Schenck of Glastonbury Somerset, UK, numerous nieces and nephews and their families and many many friends. Besides her parents and first husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Clifford Finn and a sister, Faith Dean. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10am at Bolton Congregational Church 228 Bolton Center Road Bolton. Burial will follow in Bolton Center Cemetery Bolton.
