Violet M. Benway

Violet (Muldoon) Benway, 92, formerly of Manchester, wife of the late Thomas Francis Benway, died Sunday, April 12, 2015 at an area nursing home.
She was born on November 3, 1922 in Manchester, daughter of Robert and Harriet (Adamson) Muldoon, and lived for many years in Windsor Locks, East Hartford, and Manchester. Violet retired from the Travelers Insurance Company, also worked for many years at the former Card Gallery store in Manchester, and was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. After her retirement she traveled extensively with her sister Betty.
Violet is survived by two daughters and a son, Susan Benway Kelleher and her husband Timothy of South Windsor, Pamela Benway Tart of North Adams, MA, and Gregory S. Benway of Glastonbury; four grandchildren, Stephanie Kelleher Boyd and her husband Brendan, Jessica Kelleher and her husband Jordan Buser, Mark Benway, and Joshua Benway; four great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Kelleher Boyd, Brodie Timothy Boyd, Kellan Patrick Boyd, and Palmer Kelleher Buser; a sister, Elizabeth Gagnon of East Hartford, and a sister-in-law, Edith Muldoon of Massachusetts. .
She was predeceased by three brothers, John, Robert, and William Muldoon, and a sister, Harriet Risley.
A private family graveside service will be held in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Visiting hours are Wednesday, April 15, from 4 PM to 6 PM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
