Vincent "Vic" Kiselis, 94, of Sterling, MA, formerly of Manchester, CT, died Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Sterling Village.
Vic was born in Ilukste, Latvia on July 24, 1923. He left Latvia after graduating high school at the start of WW II, eventually living in a displaced person camp in Eslingen, Germany. It was there that he learned the craft of silversmithing, also where he met Aina Purlicis whom he would later marry. He emigrated to the U.S., first to Iowa but after a few months moved to Manchester, CT to be with other Latvian friends. In 1953 he married Aina, settled in Hartford and later had their daughter Ilze. The family moved to Manchester in the early 60's, where Aina and Vic remained until this summer. Vic spent most of his working life at U&R Construction Co, working well into his 70's.
He was predeceased by Aina earlier this year, and is survived by his daughter, Ilze Kiselis and her husband David Carter.
A calling hour will be held Monday, Nov. 27, from 10:30-11:30, followed by funeral service at 11:30 AM at the Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester.
