Veronika Maidelis

Veronika (Solotka) Maidelis, age 87, formerly of Manchester, loving wife of the late Arnolds Maidelis, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at an area convalescent home.
Veronika was born in Daugaupils, Latvia on March 1, 1929, daughter of Jazeps and Veronika (Gulbens) Solotka. She emigrated to the United States in 1951, settling in Hartford and moving to Manchester in 1963. Veronika had been a manager at the former D & L clothing store at the Manchester Parkade and was a longtime member of the American Latvian Lutheran Church in Manchester.
She is survived by two sons, Talivaldis Maidelis and his wife Linda of Waterford, and Martins Maidelis and his wife Manliya of Thailand; four grandchildren, Meghan Maidelis of Portland, Mara Harris of Waterford, and Alexandra Maidelis and Marcus Maidelis, both of South Windsor, and her former daughter-in-law, Barbara Maidelis of South Windsor. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her son, Ivars Maidelis.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 10, at 11:00 AM at the American Latvian Lutheran Church, corner of Winter and Garden Streets in Manchester. Burial will follow in the East Cemetery in Manchester. Friends may call at the church Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Southington, CT 06489-1058.
