Attorney Thomas DiRuzza, 93, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Mary (Progana) DiRuzza died on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Tom was born on February 5, 1923 in Fontana Liri, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Antonia DiRuzza. He immigrated to the United States in March of 1939 settling in Fall River, Massachusetts and later moved to Manchester where he had lived for over 60 years. Tom earned his B.A. degree from Providence College and later his law degree from Boston University. He was a veteran of WW II serving his country in the US Army. Tom was a strong linguist, speaking French and Italian fluently. At the end of the war, he was assigned to a Repatriation Team in Grenoble, France where he assisted in the resettling of displaced persons in Europe. He began his career as an Attorney working for Travelers Insurance and later became the Clerk of the Superior Court in Rockville. Tom was a longtime Communicant of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. Tom is survived by his brother, Santi DiRuzza of Fall River, MA, his nephew Barry DiRuzza and his wife Jo Dee of Charlotte, NC, his niece Catherine Ellis and her husband Edward of Fall River, MA and their families. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 10:30 am in St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St. Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 - 10:30 am in the church.
