Thelma F. Lovell

Thelma F. (Follansbee) Lovell (1923 2021) Thelma F. Lovell, 97, of Vernon, CT passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021. Born on July 11, 1923, in Portsmouth, NH, she was the youngest of three daughters of Harry E. and Dora J. Follansbee. After graduating from Keene State Teachers College, Thelma moved to Manchester, CT, where she taught at the Highland Park and Buckley Elementary Schools. Thelma was a lifelong member of Center Congregational Church, and was recognized for her volunteer work at Manchester Memorial Hospital. An avid reader, Thelma loved to play Scrabble and solve crossword puzzles. Although she wintered in Bradenton, FL for more than 20 years, Thelma was a true New Englander at heart and welcomed each changing season. She cherished her many long-standing friendships and special moments shared with family, especially her great-grandchildren. Thelma was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Harley W. Lovell; sisters Eleanor Goodwin of Portsmouth, NH, and Phyllis Blissell of Seattle, WA. Survivors include son Keith and his wife, Cathy, of Chester, CT; grandson Ethan of Venice, CA; granddaughter Devin Chester and her husband, Joseph, of Chester, CT, and three great-grandchildren.
