Shirley F. Glenney

Shirley (Fraser) Glenney, 89, of Coventry, beloved wife of the late William G. Glenney Jr. died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at home with her family at her side. Shirley was born on April 24, 1925 in Hartford, daughter of the late Herbert and Florence (McCormick) Fraser. She had been a resident of Manchester for many years until moving to Coventry in 1963. Shirley earned an Associate Degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in 1992. She was an administrative assistant at United Technologies, University of Connecticut, University of Hartford, and the State of Connecticut. She was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Coventry, a former volunteer at Manchester Memorial Hospital and for Children and Family Services of Connecticut. Shirley is survived by her two sons, Capt. William G. Glenney, IV, of Middletown, RI and Daniel M. Glenney and his wife, Susan of Manchester, her two daughters, Marcia G. Van Camp of Jackman, Maine, and Kimberly Glenney Petrin and her husband, Roger of Vernon, eleven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son-in-law, Blair Van Camp, her two brothers, Herbert C. Fraser Jr. and Roy W. Fraser and her sister, Eleanor Scranton-Richards. A calling hour will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester from 10-11 am with a service to begin at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester.
