Shirley Florence Eldridge

Shirley Florence (Cahoon) Eldridge, passed away in her home in Manchester, CT the morning of Tuesday, September 20, 2022. The daughter of the late Harold Cahoon and Florence (Wood) Cahoon of Willimantic, CT, she was one of eight children. Shirley was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Eldridge Sr. and daughter Darlene (Eldridge) Wordsworth. Shirley enjoyed watching her favorite sports, including Nascar, UCONN Basketball and Football, was an avid bowler of many years in numerous local leagues, and was a longtime Elvis Presley fan. She was often found sketching and drawing Disney and other cartoon characters. Recently, her favorite activities were puzzles, watching game shows, and classic movies. Shirley leaves behind two loving sons, Raymond Jr. (Maryann) and John (Lisa). She is also survived by five siblings, Richard, Raymond, Robert, Irene and Harold Jr., eight grandchildren Cheryl, Raymond III, Cassondra, Ashley, Courtney, Brittany, Monica and Dylan, as well as eight great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for calling hours at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester on Thursday, September 29 from 6:00-8:00PM. Burial is to follow Friday, September 30 in East Cemetery, 220 E. Center St., Manchester at 11:00AM. Prior to the committal, guests may join the family at Holmes-Watkins beginning at 10:00AM. Donations in Shirley's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
