Sharon Theriault

March 11, 1947 — February 16, 2020

Sharon Theriault of Manchester CT, beloved wife of 45 years to her husband Ronald Theriault and loving mother to her three sons, Todd and Brett Shanaman, and Jason Theriault, passed away on February 16, 2020, in her home after a long struggle with heart failure. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Hartford CT on March 11, 1947 to Norma and Clyde Rauschenbach, Sharon graduated from Manchester High School in 1965. She worked briefly at Travelers and SNET before moving to Mississippi where she survived Hurricane Camille in 1969. She moved back to Connecticut where she worked as a receptionist at Buckley Elementary School and volunteered as a teacher's assistant while her children attended the school. Later she became a Certified Nurses Aid and worked for five years at Crestfield Convalescent Home before working as a private aid for several more years. Sharon was known for her generous heart and volunteered her time and expertise to various organizations and community efforts. She used her knitting and crocheting skills to make items for newborns at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Manchester Police Citizen Volunteer Corps. She was also on the crew of several public access television shows at Cox Communications. Her love of all animals, great and small, led her to volunteer at the Lutz Children's Museum, where she worked in the gift store and in the animal room. Sharon found working with injured animals so fulfilling that she became a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and created the nonprofit, Critters in Crisis. Through the charity, she cared for countless animals, bringing them back to health to be released back into the wild. She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends.
