Salvatore P. Tine, 88, of Manchester, beloved husband of the late Betty (Jacobs) Tine, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 in Vernon.
Salvatore was born on June 29, 1929 in Hartford to the late Ralph and Irene (Battey) Tine. He grew up in Hartford and attended local schools before proudly serving his country in the US Army during WWII. Salvatore was a machinist for Arrow, Hart & Hegeman for many years. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoyed vacations to St. Albans, Vermont, visiting the Holland Rod & Gun Club with his son and his most recent enjoyment of fishing. He was always looking to go out and throw a line in the water whenever he had the chance. Salvatore was a member of the American Legion Post 200 in Rocky Hill. He is a parishioner of St. James Church in Manchester.
Salvatore is survived by his two sons, Stephen Tine and his wife Pauline of South Glastonbury and Robert Tine of Manchester; his daughter Sharon Gazdzicki and her husband Gary of Manchester, five grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his daughter Deborah (Tine) Rivera , daughter-in law Kathi Tine a brother Joseph Tine and his wife Pat Tine, a sister Marion (Tine) Burrows and her husband Richard Burrows.
Calling hours for Salvatore and his wife Betty will be held Friday, November 24, from 5-7 PM at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main St, Manchester. Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 25 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillstown Road Veterans Cemetery, Manchester.
