Sally-Ann (Zawistowski) Whitham, 82, of Vernon formerly of Bolton passed away on Thursday,
August 17, 2017 after her battle with brain cancer. She was the beloved wife of John E.
Whitham for 61 years. She was the loving mother of daughter, Tina Whitham of Vernon and
loving grandmother of Matthew Ryba and wife Julie, Kaitlyn Cram and husband Peter, Dyana
Ryba and Luke Ryba; son Stephen Whitham of Andover and grandchildren Shannon and Seth
and wife Kimberly. She was the proud great grandmother of Maranatha, John Thomas,
Nathaniel and Zoe. She is survived by her brother Edward Zawistowski and wife Harriet of
Manchester and many nieces and nephews and their families. Sally-Ann was born on June 11, 1935, in Manchester, CT, daughter of the late John and Phyllis (Jaglinski) Zawistowski. She graduated from Manchester High School in 1954 and pursued a secretarial career. She lived in Germany from 1959-1961 as an officer's wife. Upon returning to Connecticut, Sally and John moved to Bolton and began their family business, Whitham Nursery. She was an avid golfer and charter member of the Tallwood Women's Club in Hebron and was a volunteer in many of her children's programs and activities. Her hands were always busy being creative. She loved to paint, knit, needlepoint and crochet. Some of her most cherished projects included needlepoint kneelers for her Church and knitted Prayer Shawls to be given to the ill, homebound or bereaved. Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. in Manchester from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9th at 11:00 am at Grace Episcopal Church, 311 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095.
