Ruth J. (Connell) Russell, 74, of Manchester, beloved wife to David M. Russell, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 8, 2018, with her family by her side. Ruth was born in Woodbury, New Jersey, on May 20, 1944, to the late Allan M. and Helen (Sherman) Connell.
Ruth graduated as Valedictorian from Williamstown, NJ High School in 1962, Glassboro State Teachers College (Rowen) in 1966, taught school for 3 years, and then worked in Information Technology at the Hartford for 15 years before starting the Mail Room.
Ruth loved family and took great pride in her legacy "The Mail Room". She enjoyed vacations and times together with parents, children and grandchildren playing Pinochle, May I, Blackout and Bridge. She owned and operated the Mail Room for 33 years working to help people get their packages to the right place with a smile. She also had a strong faith, a member of the Community Baptist Church for 35 years as Treasurer, Deacon and choir member.
In addition to her husband David, Ruth is survived by her three children, David M. Russell and his wife Nancy of Medford, OR, Ann Marie Wetmore and her husband Donald of Newington and Mary Bombardier and her husband Wade Reid of Suffield; her grandchildren Samantha, Victoria, Chance, Evan and Anthony; her step-grandchildren Matthew, Melanie, Samantha, Jessica and Joey; her great-grandchildren Emily, Josh and Lily; her brothers Allan Connell Jr. and his wife Dorothy and Roger Connell Sr. and his wife Nancy as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend Margaret Petrie of Laconia, NH who was very close and dear to her.
A time of visitation for Ruth will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018, from 5-7 PM at Holmes-Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester. A Celebration of Life will be held at Community Baptist Church, 585 E. Center Street, Manchester, on Monday, October 15 2018, from 10:30-11:30 AM with a luncheon to follow.
