Russell W. Olsen, 89, of Manchester, loving husband of 59 years to Justine (Shea) Olsen, died peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2016 in Manchester. Russ was born on July 1, 1926 in Warwick, RI son of the late Oscar and Anna (Clauson) Olsen. He was a combat veteran of the US Army serving his country during the Korean War and had earned the rank of Sergeant First Class. Russ was awarded the; Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Medal and One Overseas Bar. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was employed as a Tool Hardener for over 25 years with Stanadyne in Windsor. Russ enjoyed fresh water fishing, especially at Little Squam Lake in Holderness, NH. He loved vacationing in Hawaii along with his wife and they had made the trip eight times. In addition to his wife Justine, he is survived by his nephew; Mark Olsen and his wife; Mary, his sister-in-law; Faith Olsen, three brothers-in-law, Paul Shea and his wife; Leila, Dennis Shea, and John Shea and his wife; Anne, two sisters-in-law; Elsie Bagley and Henrietta LaLiberty and her husband; Royce and numerous other nieces, nephews and all their families. In addition to his parents, Russ was predeceased by his sister; Hazel Fuller and two brothers; Roy Olsen and Col. Harold Olsen, US. Army and his wife; Mervena Olsen. Graveside services with military honors will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 1:30pm in the Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich, CT. There are no calling hours.
