Rosamond Shaw (“Rosie”), 97, of Manchester, beloved wife of the late William V Shaw, passed away peacefully, on Friday, May 16, 2025. Rosie was born on October 4, 1927 in Somerville, MA, to the late Charles and Mabel (Johnson) Wilson.
Rosie grew up in Manchester, graduating from Manchester High School in 1945. After high school, she attended St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Boston, MA, graduating in 1949 with her RN license. Rosie was employed by Manchester Memorial Hospital from March 1, 1949 until her retirement on June 11, 1993, the last 40 years of which was as an Operating Room Nurse. She was a long-time parishioner of St. James Church in Manchester. Rosie will be forever remembered as a fighter, and for her devotion and loyalty to her family.
Rosie is survived by her devoted daughter, Karen Zuboff and her husband Steven Zuboff, step-grandchildren Jaimee Newman (Matt) of Jupiter, FL, Lauren Sharkey (Peter) of Gladwyne, PA and Gregory Zuboff (Sol) of West Palm Beach, FL, her step great-grandchildren Zachary and Vanessa Newman, Blake and Layla Sharkey, and soon-to-be baby Zuboff. She also leaves behind several cherished nieces and nephews and devoted extended family. She was predeceased by both parents, Charles and Mabel Wilson and her husband William Shaw (“Bill”) and her brother Edward Wilson. Karen and Steve would like to say a very special thank you to Rosie’s aide Sheryl, who provided wonderful care and compassion to her not only in her last days, but also during the past two (2) years of her life. Sheryl has come to be considered family and we are forever grateful and blessed to have her in our lives.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Holmes Watkins Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10:00am at St. James Church, 896 Main Street, Manchester, CT followed by burial in East Cemetery, 220 E.
