Ronald 'Ron' William Desrosiers, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, at Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut. Ron was born on August 12, 1941, to the late Herve J. Desrosiers and Lillian (Pelletier) Desrosiers.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy Desrosiers, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and adventure. His legacy continues through his children, Ronald W. Desrosiers Jr., Adrienne Desrosiers, and Roger Harrison. Ron was predeceased by R. Scott Harrison in 2022. He will also be remembered by his family and grandchildren.
Ron's siblings, Jeanne Poetker and Herve E. Desrosiers, will always remember their brother. He was predeceased in death by his brother John Desrosiers, but the memories they created will continue to be celebrated by those who knew them.
Ron completed his education at a technical school where he formed many lifelong friendships. After graduation, he answered the call of duty and proudly served as a Marine, embodying the Corps' values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life.
Ron was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular passion for the New York Yankees. His love for the game was infectious, and he spent many an afternoon sharing this passion with friends and family. His adventurous spirit also found an outlet in motorsports; he enjoyed Modified and NASCAR racing and took pleasure in the thrills of Lime Rock road course racing for years.
Travel was another of Ron's great joys. He and Nancy traveled extensively in local areas and out of the country, with Hawaii holding a special place in both of their hearts. However, it was Argentina that captured his imagination above all, and the tales of their adventures there became a treasured part of family history. Ron and Nancy split their time between Connecticut and Florida, where they shared valued friendships and communities.
Ron's love for the open road was also evident in the many years he and Nancy spent traveling in their motor home to favorite destinations like Gloucester Mass and Rockport, where they relished the sun, sand, and sea.
Ron's spirit will continue to be felt in every Yankee game watched, every race cheered on, and every family gathering that echoes with the laughter and stories he so loved to share.
As we say farewell to Ron, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His impact was immeasurable, and his presence will be sorely missed. Though he may be gone from our sight, the lessons he taught us and the love he gave us will never fade. Rest in peace, dear Ron, until we meet again.
