Roger Leonard St. George, 86, a 65 year resident of Enfield, formerly of Manchester husband of 63 years to the late Marjorie (Brown) St. George passed away peacefully at Suffield House on Monday, October 10, 2016. Roger was born on July 30, 1930 in Worcester, MA son of the late Theobalt "Tubby" St. George and Marie "Gert" (Rousseau) St. George. He had been a resident of Manchester for several years, graduating from Manchester High School in 1948. Roger was a veteran of the Korean War serving his country in the US Air Force. After his military service Roger earned his bachelor degree in Engineering from Western New England College in 1969. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford for over 29 years. Roger was a member of V.F.W. Post #6123 in Windsor Locks and a member of A.M.V.E.T.S. Post #18 in Enfield. Roger enjoyed playing the organ, reading, and cooking breakfast and popcorn on the stove. He was an avid gardener and loved to take care of his manicured lawn. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his children, grandchildren and especially his two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his three children; William R. St. George of Enfield, Phyllis J. St. George of Springfield, MA and Elizabeth "Liza" Maynard and her husband Wayne of Enfield, his two grandchildren; Shaun Maynard and his wife Nicole of Enfield, and Amy Maynard of Fontana, CA, his two great-grandchildren; Michael and Gabrielle Maynard, his sister Yvette Pantaluk of Florida and several nieces and nephews. Roger's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Suffield House for their kind and compassionate care. Family and friends are welcome to attend a time of visitation at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 10:30-11:30 am with a service to begin at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
