Roger P. Bedard Sr., 68, of Hartford, formerly of Willington, loving father, brother, uncle and companion died peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 with his family at his side. Roger was born on February 7, 1948 in Lynn, MA son of the late Lucien and Doris (Roy) Bedard. He attended local schools and was a 1968 graduate of Cheney Tech High School in Manchester. Roger was a proud veteran serving his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement in 2008, Roger was employed as an electrician with Jacobs Manufacturing for over 30 years. He was a former member of B.P.O.E # 1359 in Rockville and a member of the D.A.V. Roger enjoyed trips to the Jersey Shore, movies with his children, music and dancing. He loved Sunday dinners with family and attending train and car shows with friends. Roger is survived by his two children; Roger P. Bedard Jr. of Middle River, MD, and Dawn Bedard of Willington, his sister; Janice Mills and her husband Gary of Mansfield Center, his niece; Katherine Bennett and her son Preston, his nephew; Kevin Heritage and his wife Amy and his longtime loving companion for over 20 years; Virginia Morris of Hartford. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Annette Bedard. A Going Home Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Greater St. Paul Baptist Church of Deliverance, 12 Windsor Ave, Windsor, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 am in St. James Church, 896 Main St. Manchester. Burial with military honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 35 Cold Springs Road, Suite 315, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3102. Holmes Funeral Home, Manchester has care of the arrangements.
