December 5, 1941 — March 23, 2015

Roberta J. DeCandia, 73 of Manchester formerly of Coventry, beloved wife of the late George E. DeCandia and the late Allan W. Griffin and mother of the late James W. Griffin passed away Monday, March 23, 2015 at Manchester Memorial Hospital. Roberta was born in Columbus, OH on December 5, 1941, daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Hattenfels) Inscho. She was raised in Columbus until 1963 when she married Allan, then moving to Connecticut in 1969, residing in Coventry. Following the passing of Allen in 1984, Roberta married George in September 1989 and then they resided in Coventry before moving to Manchester in 1998. Prior to retiring, she worked as a secretary for NAMCO in Manchester for several years and previously was employed at McKesson Drug in Rocky Hill. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church, Coventry. In years past, she loved to spend time at Cape Cod, travel with her friends, Dotty White and her late husband, Kenny and also loved to crochet and was an avid bowler. Roberta is survived by her loving family, a daughter, Susan (Griffin) Cosman and her husband, Timothy of Manchester, two step-daughters, Holly DeCandia-Bernier of Surfside, SC and Jessica DeCandia Doucette and her husband, James of East Windsor, a daughter-in-law, Diane Griffin of Enfield, nine grandchildren, Lyndsy Buckley, Corey Bernier, Rosie Bernier, Kyle Hoxie, Austin Hoxie, Schvaughn Cosman, Alan James Griffin, Tristan Cosman and Katlynn Cosman, six great-grandchildren, a special aunt, Rita Jean Lewis and her husband, Moe, two nieces, Mary and Sherry Beaudoin, a cousin, Judy Sommers and many more family members she adored, close friends, Christine Pouliot and Lorraine Marineau, also her beloved dogs, Midnight and Shyla. A special thank you to all the doctors and nurses that gave excellent care to Roberta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday April 7, 2015 at 9 A.M. at St. Mary Church 1600 Main Street (Rte. 31) Coventry. Everyone is asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Coventry. Family and friends may call Monday, April 6, from 5-8 P.M. at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main St. Manchester.
