Robert E. White

Robert E. "Tiger" White, age 93, of Vernon, beloved husband of the late Margaret (Fernandes) White, died peacefully Sunday, December 13th. He was born August 17, 1922 in Taunton, MA. Bob joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at the age of 17. He was a WWII Army Veteran. Bob married Margaret in 1946 and together they moved to CT in 1952. Bob worked for Pratt & Whitney and the US Navy Department until his retirement. He was a member of the Manchester Country Club, the British American Club and the VFW Post 2046. Bob leaves his son Robert and his wife Linda, four grandchildren, William White, Thomas White (Tammy), Stacy Martinchek (John) and William Maynes, two great grandchildren Rachel and Johnny White. He also leaves a sister Paula Driscoll. Bob was predeceased by three sisters and one brother. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Alzheimer's Resource Center for the care provided during his time there. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 10:30 am at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St. Manchester. Burial will follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. Calling hours will be on Thursday, December 17th from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
