Robert J. Tyrol Sr., 83 of Manchester, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 after a long illness.
Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 7, 1934, son of Francis and Dorothy (Cooper) Tyrol. Bob had been a Manchester resident for many years. Prior to retiring he had been a sales representative for Sussman and Blumenthal Metals in Hartford. After retiring, he had the great fortune of working at Tyrol Automotive in Manchester with his son, Tom and favorite grandson, Oliver. Bob was a former parishioner of St. Bridget Church in Manchester.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Tyrol and his wife Catherine of Bolton; two daughters, Susan Tyrol-Bagcal and her husband Rene of South Windsor, and Sandra Tyrol Bostic and her husband David of Windsor; his daughter in law, Julie Tyrol of Vernon; nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild, Tavis, the joy of his life. Bob shared his life, for the last 16 years, with his fianc Patricia Zatkowski of Manchester.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Jean (Manning) Tyrol, the mother of his four children and also his son, Robert J. Tyrol Jr.
His family would like to thank the staff at The Residence of South Windsor and The Residence at Brookside in Avon for all of their care and kindness. A special thanks to Dr. Matthew Friedman and his office staff, for their extraordinary care and compassion.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 am, at St. Bridget Church, 70 Main St, Manchester. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery in Rockville. There are no calling hours.
Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
